Decatur County Sheriff's Deputy Tony Weber

Testimony Summary:

·  He was working at the sheriff’s department at the time and responded to Holly’s abduction.

·  Upon arrival, he saw Clint and Kathy Wise standing at the residence.

·  He was the first officer on the scene that morning.

·  He spoke to Clint Bobo, who told him that someone in camouflage had taken his sister into the woods. He and Clint started walking toward that area.

·  He saw the blood in the carport.

·  He identifies photos of the blood in the carport.

·  He states Deputy Jeremy Pratt and Ricky Inman arrived at some point.

·  After seeing the blood, he asked Clint to write down a statement.

·  ·  After seeing the blood, he asked Clint to write down a statement.

·  He met Karen Bobo when she arrived and questioned her.

·  He realized Holly had her phone with her after speaking to Karen.

·  He contacted 9-1-1 and asked him to contact the cell carrier to track the cell phone.

·  To do this, he needed a Supervisor signature, so he left the scene to sign some paperwork to send to AT&T.

·  AT&T emailed him pings of Holly’s phone, which they relayed to TBI and a helicopter from Jackson Police Department.

·  After realizing no more pings were coming through, he was tasked with interviewing local sex offenders.

·  He states he knows Zach Adams and Shayne Austin and did not encounter either that day.

·  He states Dana Bobo was not at the residence when he arrived, and he was the first to put crime scene tape around the carport area.[1]

·  He walked into the woods looking for Holly after speaking to Karen.

·  He states he never saw Karen running into the woods to look for Holly.

·  He walked through the woods looking for blood, disturbances, or even Holly. He did not find anything, nor did he take any pictures.

·  He exited the woods onto Swan-Johnson road.

·  He did not prevent himself from leaving footprints in the woods.

·  He states the TBI picked up his case file from the abduction, making it impossible for him to bring it for his testimony today.

·  He was also unable to review the case file. The TBI took the case file the first few days after it was completed.

·  He filled out an “exigent circumstances” form that he faxed to AT&T.

·  Jennifer Thompson claims that AT&T asked him how often he wanted a ping on Holly’s phone, and he told them he wanted one every fifteen minutes, despite it being possible to get a ping every minute.

·  A call requesting that a tracker be put on Holly Bobo’s cell phone is played in Court.

·  Several transfers sound to occur during this recording – it was a long, draining process, and the audio is difficult to understand.

·  According to the call, the closest address to Holly’s phone was within Holiday Circle in that time, and her phone was pinging near I-840.

·  Deputy Weber relayed this information to other officers.

·  Deputy Weber identifies notes that he used for his preliminary investigation report, and his report itself.

·  He details his sex offender canvassing of the local area after Holly’s abduction.

·  In his report, he states he arrived and spoke to Clint Bobo, who reported he was asleep and heard a scream. [2]

·  Clint reported his sister in a pink shirt and blue jeans walking into the woods.

·  He does not remember being told that Holly was kneeling with someone in the carport.

·  Clint reported he thought the man was Drew.

·  He did not enter the residence.

·  He states he tried to get a dog but was delayed in getting one.

·  He added supplementary notes from his interviews with local sex offenders to his report.

·  He confirmed that he spoke to several sex offenders in that area, giving their names and locations from his report, including Terry Britt.

·  Jennifer Thompson claims that, earlier that morning, Johnathan Ryker, another deputy interviewing sex offenders, had been by Terry Britt’s residence that morning, and no one was home.

·  Deputy Tony Weber confirms that, when they arrived at the Britt residence, he and Janet were unloading a tub, but cannot say what time this was.

·  He states he taped off a large segment of the crime scene.

·  He says he put the crime scene tape up after noticing the blood in the carport.

·  The first thing he did on arrival was speak to Clint, and hand him a form to fill out before Karen arrived at the residence.

·  He never entered the woods.

·  After he steps down, the Judge wishes a member of the jury happy birthday.

[1] Contradicts Dana’s testimony that he was the first to block off the carport area.

[2] Contradicts Clint’s testimony that he was woken up by the dog barking.

TN Highway Patrol Officer Warren Rainey

Testimony Summary:

·  He has an apparent history and friendship with the Judge, and they joke about how the judge stole a pen from him 25-30 years ago, and did not return it, but bought him a new one.

·  He works for the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

·  He took part in the search for Holly for about 18 months.

·  He states he focused on Zach Adams twice and visited him twice.

·  The first time he went to Zach’s residence was because his name came up in the investigation, and he knew Zach Adams knew the local roads.

·  About a week and a half after the abduction, he visited Zach’s home because “his name kept coming up.”

·  He knocked on the door, Zach answered, he confirmed he owned a phone, and, when asked to provide his cell phone number, he refused because his girlfriend had already given that to law enforcement.

·  He states Zach “wanted [him] out of the house” when he followed him inside after Zach entered to put on a shirt.

·  He states Zach was “scared,” and repeatedly denied involvement, stating his girlfriend had turned him in. He was also visibly shaking.

·  He also spoke to Zach’s grandfather to ask about where their property line was.

·  He states that, after he and his fellow deputy left, they saw Zach run back to his residence in their car mirrors, before hiding up the road. Another trooper hid in a different location. He says he called the command post, requesting backup because he “was very suspicious about Zach Adams.”

·  He states that Dylan Adams quickly exited the driveway in a pickup truck, before heading toward Parsons.

·  He states Dylan was driving so recklessly, there was probable cause to stop him before he arrived in Parsons. He was driving quickly along back roads.

·  He states he continued watching the house with binoculars, and, at some point, agents arrived to speak to Zach Adams, including Sheriff Wyatt and someone in a suit.

·  He states that, likely the next day, he assembled a search team including three K-9 units to search the hundreds of acres of county property behind the Adams residence. He continued watching the front of the house while they searched. He did not encounter Zach.

·  He told Zach and Dick Adams that a searcher saw something behind the house and asked them for permission to look at a specific area behind the house.

·  He says that, in this area, he saw a “decent,” not old, mattress leaning against the house. He found this suspicious but did not ask Zach about it.

·  In another area, he states he found a felled tree laying over a 6-by-8-foot patch of bare dirt with no grass growing on it. He states there was suspicion it was a grave and dug into it. He asked Zach for a shovel, who retrieved one for him. After digging into the spot, it was determined to not be a grave.

·  He spoke with Zach and Dick before leaving and reporting what he saw to a TBI agent, with searchers still in the woods.

·  He stated he arrived at Zach’s residence initially, visibly armed and in a Highway Patrol utility uniform.

·  He states Zach appeared to have just woken up and was visibly nervous.

·  He states he had not been instructed to speak to Zach Adams by law enforcement but was doing this as a searcher.

·  Zach eventually gave him his cell phone number.

·  Jennifer Thompson questions why Mr. Rainey followed Zach into the house when he wanted to put a shirt on.

o  Jennifer Thompson: And you’d recognize you have absolutely no legal right to be in his house?

o  Warren Rainey: I wasn’t going to go all the way through his house, but I was not going to let a man that I did not know step in a house and obtain a firearm and shoot me.

·  He admits he would be concerned if a man showed up at his house with a gun and stepped inside with no uniform.

·  He admits he was suspicious Zach had potential evidence of Holly’s disappearance in his home.

·  He admits it is plausible Zach was nervous due to having drugs in the home.

·  He states Zach had “hundreds” of marijuana plants growing behind his house on county property.

·  He states he finds it “highly unlikely” that the mattress leaning against Zach’s house was being moved out due to Zach’s relationship with his girlfriend because it was leaned against the northwest side of the house, not near the carport or front door.

·  He states the mattress gave him the “gut feeling of something is not right.”

·  He admits no evidence relating to Holly’s disappearance that he knows of was found in Dylan’s truck.

·  After this witness, the Judge asked if there were any sports team fans, and suggested he may be able to get them game tickets with someone sequestering them.

Testimony Summary:

·  He works at Magistrate State Park.

·  On April 4, 2011, a few days before Holly’s abduction, he spoke to Zach Adams for a traffic stop. He states it did not go routinely.

·  He states Zach fled on foot and was pursued and arrested by law enforcement.

·  He states that, after Zach was arrested, he did not have long, linear scratches down his left arm.

·  He was pulled over after having to turn around since he couldn’t drive past the wires.

·  Upon pulling Zach over, he found a camo fanny pack in his car, and Zach takes the bag out of his hands and begins running through the woods.

·  While running, Zach was throwing items out of his fanny pack.

·  He pushed Zach to the ground before arresting him.

·  He states that, during the arrest, Zach tried to scratch at him with his fingernails.
