In 2017, six years after the abduction of Holly Bobo, Zach Adams was put on trial for her kidnapping, rape, and murder. The prosecution, led by special prosecutor Jennifer Nichols, presented a narrative, made plausible by the testimony of their star witness, Jason Autry. Seven years later, Autry has come forward and recanted his testimony. No physical evidence linked Zach or Dylan Adams, nor codefendants Shayne Austin and Jason Autry, to the crime. Zach was convicted and sentenced to life in prison +50 years with no possibility of parole. Dylan received a thirty-five year sentence after taking an Alford plea, which essentially means that while maintaining his innocence, he decided it was in his best interest to take a plea rather than going through a trial.
